  3. Can someone answer me about the change of frequency after the retirement.
    All people after retirement spkeak in different tone, till such time they are in service they keep their gob shut. I understand, the problem behind but at-least speak out against the injustice and wrong doings.

    My humble prayer for those who were lucky to lay down their lives at Kargil and to those who served there even a day during those periods.

  11. they must be watching the heights they strived to reach and protect.
    how insignificant and small it must appear from there. they have done their bit for us. i am sure our remembrance and prayers will still reach them.

    Let us vow to let it never happen again.

  12. To the parents of the martyrs,

    Thank you, so very much, for the values you inculcated in your children.

    I hope the nation deserves the sacrifices of your progeny.

  14. As a comrade in arms, my chest is swollen with pride with your deeds. I lost some very good friends who I knew pesonally - let me say that they were the most selfless and gentlemanly guys in the Battalion and army courses where I had privelege of interacting with you. You were superhuman beings. You will always make us proud!

  21. In distant mountains of Kargil
    these days tourists come and go,
    Amid the harsh terrain and hills,
    The frosty breeze blows,
    our soldiers in pursuit of the Pakis,
    death they chose.

    Here shrapnel shells once shrieked and burst
    And took their toll of death;
    The very wind, itself a foe,
    poor warriors; they fell short of breath.

    Above their graves the birds now sing
    As round that home of yore,
    When, carefree boys, they romped and played;
    Those childhood days soon o'er,
    The boys to brave and strong men grown,
    They romped and played no more.

    They put aside their childish toys,
    A man's work each must do,
    And when their country called for them,
    To her they answered true.

    "We must protect our native land:
    She shall not suffer wrong
    For she has reared and nurtured us,
    We're men and we are strong.
    We'll bid good-bye to those we love;
    It will not be for long."

    With aching hearts and tear-dimmed eyes
    We watched them go away.
    Some have returned but many sleep
    In those mountains today.

    Year on year since ninety nine
    Vijay Diwas we say
    Our soldiers-dead are not forgot
    We pay tribute to them this day.

  23. VISHY (A humble tribute)- I SALUTE YOU

    A humble tribute to a friend Lt Col R Vishwanath, 2 I/C 18 Grenadiers, with whom I had the privilege of serving in a UN Mission and we also did the SC Course together.

    Vishy you were a selfless and excellent human being who was always very helpful. I still remember after SC Course as you were moving to Kargil, how concerned you were about your wife and children. You were looking for an elusive telephone link for your family which our lethargic and inefficient admin was creating hurdles to provide for you.

    Beneath the sentimental exterior was a tough soldier within. As events unfolded, in Kargil you could never take the nonsense of the enemy and laid the life for the izzat of your Bn. As I saw the story in the movie 'LOC' I was immensely touched and realised how true it was for Vishy to behave the way he did!

    We salute you Vishy. I only hope the same inefficient and lethargic administration did look after Mrs Vishy and the family after your immortality (a tall order!).

  24. It was very shameful that our chief saab kapoor and defence minister didn't turn up for Vijay divas at Draa and it was really nice of ex Chief Gen Vij for being personally be there amongst soldiers...We expect cold reaction from our politicians but not from our present chief and defence minister...what message they want to give...are you there Chief ?
