Toll exemption for gallantry awardees

(Note : Comment moderation would be slow for a few days during the absence of Maj Navdeep Singh)

As regular readers may be aware, toll exemption is only available to serving personnel and their private vehicles on all bridges and roads in India. This exemption is not available to retired personnel.

However the Govt of India, as a goodwill gesture, has granted toll exemption to all retired gallantry awardees. This is only restricted to National Highways over which the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways exercises jurisdiction.

Readers have written in to seek a copy of the notification which provides this exemption, the same can be viewed and downloaded by clicking here.

  7. Dear Navdeep,

Are you military person? Instead of fighting for ex servicemen, you are taking side of corrupt NHAI.

With people like you, exservicemen do not need any enemy.

Good luck and continue working against exservicemen's interest.

    Hi Navdeep,
The letter exempting Gallantry award winners is 2003 issue and does not mention VM, SM and NSM for gallantry as feel these awards were instituted after the letter was issued or may be since they do not sound as gallantry awards they were not included in the letter. You are humbly requested to kindly take up this matter with NHAI and if that is not possible please suggest the correct way of taking this matter up with the authorities.
I would be highly obliged if you could inform me by email at lakhwara@gmail.com.
Thanks for your valuable time and the yeomen service you are doing for the veterans and serving
