Additional Gratuity to pre-1996 pensioners

There is a letter floating around in veteran circles asking people to fill up a form for claiming additional gratuity in respect of those who retired prior to 01-01-1996. The said letter is purportedly based on a pronouncement by the Supreme Court.

Veterans are requested to ignore any such communication since there is no truth in the same.

    Is disability pension counted while calculating the amount of gratuity?

    Dear Mr M dhillon,
    Gratuity is based upon last pay ( pay in PB+GP+MSP+NPA) drawn including DA on the date of retirement/ discharge and by giving weightage of 5 yrs to the qualifying servcie, 50% of QS subject to maximum of 16.5 months salary/10 lakhs

    Gratuity is not allowed when one is eligible for Disability Pension!!
